1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That where an agreement shall have been made between any mechanic and any other person whatsoever, regarding the price for the repairs of any gun, pistol, plow, wagon, or any other article whatsoever, the said gun, pistol, plow, wagon, or other article, as the case may be, shall be subject to a lion in favor of said mechanic for any amount that may be due said mechanic for repairs as aforesaid, and the said mechanic may retain the said gun, pistol, plow, wagon, or other article, as the case may be, until said amount due for said repairs be paid; and if it be not paid within thirty days after it is due, the said mechanic shall have the same remedies for the enforcement of his lien as are given by existing law to a landlord having a lien on personal property for rent.
