§ 14. The board of councilmen shall have power to provide by ordinance for the punishment of indecent or disorderly conduct, drunkenness, gaming, fast riding or driving, obstructing streets, alleys, or sidewalks, injury to wells, cisterns, streets, alleys, sidewalks, sewers, shade trees, or other property belonging to said town or the board of councilmen thereof; breaches of the peace; selling, or keeping, or offering for sale any diseased or spoiled meats, or spoiled vegetables, milk, or other article of food; keepers of or inmates of bawdy-houses, or houses of illfame; firing Roman candles, sky-rockets, fire-crackers, fire-arms, or other explosives; profane swearing on the streets; cruelty to animals; unlawfully injuring, defacing, or removing signs, posters, or advertisements; disturbing religious worship, or other lawful assemblies; carrying concealed. on or about the person, any deadly weapon other than an ordinary pocket knife-and any pistol shall be considered a deadly weapon-without proving that fact; and they shall have power to provide by ordinance for the suppression and punishment of any and all other irregularities or disorders that may be prejudicial to the peace and good order of said town, and for the enforcement of regulations necessary or proper for the security of the health of the citizens thereof, or the safety of property in said town, not contrary to the Constitution or laws of this State.
